In Thompson's plastic factory, thermoplastic tubes and profiled sections are manufactured by extrusion. The first extruding plant was installed in 1955 for the manufacture of electric conduits. Today, products from our vast range are used primarily in building construction and civil engineering. They serve many purposes in the areas of services and utilities (water, gas, electricity, telecommunications), mechanical installations (sanitation, heating, air-conditioning), drains and sewage, and industrial purposes (bespoke profiled sections and pipes). The manufacturing plant utilizes state-of-the-art extruder lines and the latest technology in accordance with the relevant regulations and standards.

A great variety of thermoplastics and thermoplastics elastomers are processed to cover the great variety of requirements. The initial product, in granular or powder form, is forced through a pressure pipe system straight into the extruder or the fully automatic blending plant. There it is combined electronically according to a precise formula to produce the various grades of tube and profile.

In the extruder the mixture is heated and forced out through the extrusion head in a plastic state. The sizing die a former determines the size and precise shape of the tube. Then the endless extruded tube discharged from the die is cooled by water, and the wall thickness constantly monitored. Finally, the tube is stamped, coiled onto rolls or cut into lengths.
